I’m not a huge fan of the 80’s video spin. It always makes me feel like I didn’t really understand things as a kid. Was Adam Ant being ironic? Did people act and dress a certain way with or without irony? As a teenager I just assumed people in the 80’s were unaware of how tragically douchey they came across. You look at Flock of Seagulls - I Ran video and you go, “look at these assholes hahaha.” All this resurgence of faux 80’s stuff has me wondering if I ever really knew what was going on then. This video is the perfect example, YACHT is another great example. I think they are both intelligent quality groups, but if I only knew them from things like this it gets kinda hard to distinguish genuine Flock of Seagullsyness from joking/well done Flock of Seagullsyness.

I didn’t repost it to say all that, I reposted it because its neato but it seemed like the appropriate time to share that thought
